Why APPI:  Large, ocean going vessels understandably have large mooring lines that must be transferred from vessel to shore when docking.  APM Terminals, a major international container terminal operating company, was experiencing ongoing performance issues with an existing mooring winch when they contacted us.

After evaluating their performance requirements and installation restrictions, one of our Columbia HF2100 hoists was selected for the work.  With 2,100 lbs of maximum line pull and 200 feet of 5/16” diameter wire rope on the drum it exceeds all of their performance requirements.

The compact size fit easily into their allowable space and the tension plate we provided helped resolve their line spooling issues.  When the unit is not in operation the hand held pendant control can be easily disconnected and stored.

This unit has worked so well for APM that Chris Grech, their Crane Manager, said they intend to make this unit standard in all of their operations.
