Why APPI: Given their need to get tools and small equipment to the tops of the above ground storage tanks where they provide inspection, maintenance and repair services, Jeffrey Sistrunk, Project Manager for HMT, contacted us for assistance in selecting a hoist for his application.
The line pull and speed requirements were 100 pounds to be lifted 80 feet “as quickly as possible”. Complicating the choice of a unit was the fact the work was being performed in a hazardous location.
After eliminating an explosion proof AC hoist due to size and cost, Jeffrey selected one of our HG550 pneumatic equipment hoists that is equipped with a pressure released, spring set brake that makes it suitable for both lifting and lowering its rated load.
