Why APPI: Midland Garage Door Manufacturing Company has been manufacturing overhead garage doors for both commercial and residential applications for over 40 years. Included in their product line are a number of steel panel doors – each with a die that is used in a high capacity hydraulic press to form them.
For over a decade, they have been using two Columbia WD1300-1A34-F-15 AC electric winches in their manufacturing process. One die winch is used to pull a die for a specific panel into the press and when production of that panel ends the other winch pulls the die out of the press.
The winches were provided with straps to eliminate the spooling and wear issues associated with wire rope. They have a freespool control that allows the line to be pulled off the drum easily by the operator.
