Why APPI: Cleaning confined spaces inside large industrial silos, vessels and towers presents a challenge that is compounded by the presence of the explosive dust and debris often found in these areas. To help prevent sparking while working in these hazardous locations, IVS Hydro is using a Columbia HF1750-P-02 pneumatic hoist. The hoist raises and lowers their custom designed cleaning head which spins as it moves vertically inside their clients structures.
The totally sealed design of the hoist makes it ideal for the wet and humid location in which it is used. Although it can lift more than three-quarters of a ton, it is compact and light enough to be easily moved from one work location to another.
Aaron Gillispie, project manager for IVS Hydro, said “The hoist has worked flawlessly since we first used it in early 2017 and we have just ordered a repeat unit to use in exact same application.”
