Why APPI: Providing for fish passage at this dam required extensive new construction that made configuring the hoist system to lift the screens a challenge. Our response was a system that took advantage of our hammerhead trolley design to help minimize the size of the hoists required for the application. It was designed to allow an operator to lift and position the fish screens individually or in tandem. The motorized hammerhead trolleys are rated at 6 tons each and the reeving through them doubles the line pull of each hoist. They can travel horizontally from 0-10 feet per minute. Variable frequency drives allows precise speed and torque control while auxiliary radio controls allow remote operation for all functions.
