Why APPI: As the custom service bodies they manufacture are going through their final finishing process, the production line at Dakota Bodies, Inc. (DBI) has a point where the overhead track they ride on is low enough to interfere with cross traffic.

To lift it out of the way, DBI uses one of our Columbia HF2100-4A33-L-02 AC electric hoists as a bridge hoist with two of our vertical lead sheaves providing guidance for the wire rope.

For the convenience of the operator, the track hoist is equipped with wireless controls. A hand held radio transmitter they carry with them communicates with the receiver which is housed with the reversing starters for the motor.

A spring applied, electrically released motor brake holds the track section in the up position and a wire rope tension plate keeps the line wrapped tightly on the drum when the track is in the down position and the load is removed from the hoist.
