Why APPI: From the air, it looks like a floating square – at least until two sections drop into the water and it becomes a floating “H”.  As designed by IMFS, the pieces that drop into the water are ramps measuring 32 feet by 20 feet that can each lift a seaplane weighing up to 10,000 pounds for maintenance, dewatering its floats, or loading.  Providing the lift for each ramp are a pair of our Columbia HL9000 AC electric hoists that are anchored in water tight boxes below the deck level of the float.  This design keeps the 5/8” wire ropes that are carrying the load clear of personnel, equipment and the aircraft.

Each float plane lift hoist is powered by a CSA-rated 3 HP brake motor and controlled with either local controls at the CUL-listed control enclosure or with a radio remote control.  A selector switch allows for individual or simultaneous operation of each pair of hoists.
