Why APPI:  It is almost ironic that some of the most sophisticated tractor tugs in the world still are hampered in their operations by low headroom under bridges and other structures.  Foss Maritime contacted Allied Power Products seeking mast hoists that would allow their tractor tugs to lower and raise the radar and electronics mast quickly to get below the height of overhead obstacles.

Constraints for the hoist included size, power and high durability with low maintenance requirements.  After reviewing their specifications, it was determined that one of our Columbia HF1500’s was an ideal choice.  Upon installation of their respective hoists, the Foss tugs gained additional clearance under these structures with low headroom.
