Why APPI: When The Hershey Company needed an AC electric food grade hoist and manual trolley to use on a portion of their manufacturing line, Tom Smullen, Technical Assurance Manager, turned to us after a thorough web search.
The load is about 1,000 pounds and is lifted approximately 10 feet before moving it 20 feet down the line to the next position where it is lowered. For this application, a Columbia HD1300 AC electric strap hoist and 1-ton capacity Columbia manual trolley were specified. Tom opted for the strap version of the hoist as it provides stable vertical lifting and lowering while also being easier and cleaner to handle than wire rope or chain.
The loads may vary as to material (depending on the product being made) but they are always sure to be part of something “sweeeet” in the end!
