Why APPI: The water treatment facility in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana utilizes an ultraviolet light disinfection machine as part of their wastewater treatment process. As provided by Trojan, the manufacturer, one of our Columbia hoists is used to lift the light bar that holds the UV bulbs up for access when they need replacement.
After many years of service, it was decided to replace the original hoist with one better prepared for the corrosive atmosphere in which it operates. Standard Crane & Hoist, located in Destrehan, Louisiana, provided the St. Charles Parish Department of Wastewater with one of our corrosion resistant hoists, specifically a Columbia H850-1A25-L-00.
The new corrosion resistant hoist was provided with a grooved drum and a cable tension plate to help resolve line spooling issues created by the limited distance between the hoist mounting location and the light bar. To help extent its service life, the hoist was assembled using stainless steel fasteners with an epoxy based overcoat. Stainless steel wire rope and a stainless steel latching hook were also provided with the hoist.
