Why APPI: Lifting large panes of glass – please excuse the pun – can be a real pain for contractors. Faced with lifting panels weighing up to 500 lbs., DeGeorge Glass of Metari, LA needed a mobile, efficient and reliable way for their crews to handle these fragile pieces.
The solution was one of our Columbia HD1300 AC electric glass hoists that mounted easily to the boom of their portable crane. With planetary gear reductions, a permanently lubricated gear train and an automatic load holding brake it was an ideal unit for their big glass installation projects.
The hoist is equipped with 40 feet of 3/16″ diameter wire rope, with latching hook, and is operated with a push button up/ down control on a 6-foot-long pendant.
As Ben DeGeorge, the company owner says, “This Columbia hoist was put to work as soon as we received it. It’s easy to see it was the right choice for us.”
